　　Task2: As part of education, students should spend a period of time living in another country to learn language and culture. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

　　There are numerous benefits for students who choose to live in a foreign country to learn the local culture and language. However, if it is for their education, I may not think doing so is necessary.

　　Students are able to meet the requirements for  foreign language skills needed for their education without leaving their countries. Schools and universities can hire native speakers of the language to train skills ranging from extensive and intensive reading to academic writing. Various resources on the internet, such as Tedtalks and YouTube, also allow students to acquire oral language skills. All these methods equip students with necessary language abilities to progress smoothly in their education. In comparison, spending several weeks or even months living in a foreign country to achieve the same educational purposes seems to be a waste of time and money.

　　The knowledge about foreign cultures does play an important role in learning a range of subjects, such as history and philosophy. However, spending a period of time living in a foreign country to acquaint themselves with local ways of living is not worthy for students. Such knowledge can be easily obtained through a wide variety of channels. Students working on an essay regarding cultural differences between Asia and Europe, for example, have easy access to what they need in a library where helpful books and journals are available. Therefore, they are not advised to go abroad for such knowledge.
