In many countries women are allowed to take maternity leave from their jobs during the first months after the birth of their baby. Does advantage outweigh disadvantages?

In many private companies and government organizations, female employees are allowed to have several months away from work after they give birth to a baby. From my point of view, such a maternity leave policy can produce more benefits than drawbacks.
Allowing parents to have parental leave may cause turmoil to the operation of a company or an organization. More specifically, the job cannot be done before deadlines or with high quality, as employees during their maternity leave cannot be contacted immediately when a problem occurs or because they may spend too much time caring for the newborn, leaving emails unchecked for too long. This will be particularly serious when the woman taking the leave is in charge of a vitally important position, such as the CEO or the CFO.
Nevertheless, I strongly believe that the advantages of new mothers taking several months away from work far outweigh the problem mentioned above. Firstly, women exposed to a generous maternity leave policy can more easily recover from the suffering of being pregnant and delivering a baby. This is especially important to those who experienced a caesarean operation. Lack of such a rest may lead to serious physical and mental problems. Parental leave can also ensure the infants will be better cared for. For example, babies who are breast-fed are less likely to get a variety of infections and are also at lower risk for asthma and obesity.
