  Nowadays a large amount of advertising is aimed at children. Some people think this can have negative effects on them and should be banned. To what extent do you agree or disagree?(媒体类)

  Nowadays, we are all too often bombarded with various advertisements on TV and the Internet, in the newspaper, a large proportion of which are children-targeted. Some people may claim that this trend may exert negative impacts on children and a ban should be imposed on such advertising.


  Indeed, too much exposure to advertising generates a lot pressure on children. The advertisers often have a deep insight into children's psychology and behaviour, both of which are taken advantages of in their advertising to make their products, whether a toy, a snack more alluring and interesting for those young minds. As a result, the innocents often fall victims to the predator and ask their parents to buy impulsively and excessively whatever is advertised, regardless of the price and function. The over-consumption of snacks contributes to the poor health, such as obesity, while the addiction to toys results in the lack of interest in studies.


  However, this does not automatically mean that the advertisements only cast detrimental effects on children. After all, in the advertising, there is still something favorable to children. In this case, it is unreasonable to simply ban the advertising aimed at children. To be specific, a large number of advertisements are full of useful information. In many cases, parents are more likely to choose the right quality products according to what a commercial or infomercial teaches, especially after careful comparison. For example, these days have witnessed the scandal of vaccines in China. However, the advertisements of some reputable foreign vaccine manufacturers enable Chinese parents to choose the reliable and cost-effective ones for their sons and daughters.


  To sum up, advertising targeted at children should be strictly examined and controlled by authorities because children are the disadvantaged group and prone to any tricks and deceits. But it is still unreasonable to simply ban the related advertisments.
