　　Task2: Many people prefer to socialize online rather than spend time with their friend in local community. Do you think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

　　Thanks to the rapid advances in communication technology, people have increasing preferences for socializing in a virtual way without face-to-face communication with their friends in local community. Such an increase in online communication, from my point of view, dose more good than harm.

　　As people spend little time on local community activities, there may be two undesirable outcomes. One of the disadvantages is that the relationship between neighbors would be weakened, as people are more willing to engage in online interactions, such as virtual gaming or liking others' Instagram photos. As a result of this, people may become indifferent to each other and lack a sense of community. The other problem caused by the lack of face-to-face communication is a declining level of heath. This is because most web-based activities are sedentary, which means that people who are addicted to socializing online are very likely to suffer from several health-related threats, such as obesity or stiff necks.

　　However, I strongly believe that above-mentioned disadvantages are outweighed by the benefits of online socializing. First of all, although people who spend little time talking with friends living next door may feel lonely sometimes, the internet allows them to keep in contact with far more people, which makes them feel connected to a bigger community. For example, a user of Facebook is able to join hundreds of interest groups and have conversations with thousands of people with the same hobby. In addition, becoming socially active on the internet helps people achieve some goals. For example, when looking for a job, a man who frequently browses social websites such as Quora is more likely to be provided with valuable experiences as to how to outperform others at an interview. Such advice can hardly to found in local community.

　　In conclusion, while socializing online may cause some problems, the pros are more than the cons.
