　　Task2: Some people think that the most important thing about being rich is give a person the opportunity to help other people. To what extent do you agree or disagree？

　　The pursuit of wealth is the ultimate goal of most people. After having become financially successful, they will be able to make great contributions to helping disadvantageous groups. In my opinion, however, this is not the most important thing about being wealthy.

　　For the activists who are devoted to helping people in need, material success is the prerequisite to achieve their goals. It is undeniable that charity is done mostly with donations of money from the middle-class and the super-rich. For example, tens of millions of pounds comes from donators in developed nations to provide children in African countries with free vaccines which protect them from life-threatening but preventable diseases. Therefore, the reason why caring individuals strive to earn a fortune is that being financially able to help needy people makes them feel the greatest happiness.

　　Nevertheless, not everyone gives their priority to charity. Instead, with a rise in incomes, they consider it the most urgent to improve their standards of living and ensure that their children have the access to the best education. With regard to the former, becoming millionaires means that people can live a life of high quality, including spacious houses, limousine cars, and Mediterranean cruises. All of these fancy things are the main and even the only motivation driving people working industriously. Apart from material pursuits, many parents, especially those in developing countries, are desperate to provide their children the best education which allows them to have a sparking job prospect in the future. Thus, once these parents become rich overnight, they will send their children to private schools or to study abroad.

　　In conclusion, while it seems to some people that helping the needy is the most important, many others, including me, would spend their money on themselves before making a donation.
