I'd say that governments should do their part to protect old buildings like spending money on looking after historic buildings and raising public's awareness of protecting them. Firstly, historic buildings are part of a country’s heritage and we identify countries by architectural symbols, like the pyramids in Egypt, the Great Wall in China and so on. Secondly, old buildings are often considered to be works of art. Finally, I also believe they give character to cities, and attract tourists.
