Around 100 promising （有前途的）athletes could get up to £10,000 a year each to help fulfil their Olympic dreams.（fulfill one’s dream 实现某人的梦想）
The Government-funded grants（政府资助的补贴金） for a new scholarship scheme will help youngsters from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The grants are aimed at （针对）youngsters aged 12 to 18 and will help pay for sophisticated training facilities, coaching, sports psychology andmedicines. (政府拨款用于啥上？先进的训练设备，培训指导，运动心理和医疗)
They will help bridge the gap（减少贫富差距） between school or junior club-level training and existing programmes for more senior athletes.
"I am confident that we will see it reap rewards （取得回报）on the podium （讲台）of a London Olympics in 2012," Jowell added.
Sport England, the organisation which distributes lottery funding and encourages participation in sport（鼓励人们参加运动）, will give out the grants every year
Sports governing bodies will identify youngsters who could benefit.
Lord Coe, who is leading the London 2012 bid（主办权）, said:"This is great news for London's bid to host the Olympics.
"I'm delighted for the young athletes who will benefit from the scheme in years to come.
