We must make more of an effort to go to the root of the problem, which means we need to treat criminals as patients and give them the medicine they need: education and treatment. （from加汉老师，在真经总纲P195）
While placing criminals in jail is reasonable, I would argue that they should be also provided with education and training.
I strongly believe that youth offenders should not be held responsibility for criminal behaviour in the same way as adults.
There is no question that young people who are accused of committing crime do have to be punished in some way; however, they should not be treated the same way as adults.
In my view, it depends on the seriousness of the crimes, the age of criminals or the rates of recommitment with one rule that one’s punishment should be commensurate with his or her crime.(becommensurate with 与……相称)
From my own perspective, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to deal with criminals;it should depend on different situations, such as the severity of the crime, the age of the offenders and the rates of recommitment.
(PS：Those who commit minor crimes, such as shoplifting/petty thievery or anti-social behavior, can be required to clean the street or talk to school groups. As for habitual offenders, putting them in prisons seems to be an effective and the most common way to punish them. )
