has been causing headaches to (让某人头疼)employers, with the financial sector in particular(尤其) facing an increasing number of deserters(逃兵,擅离职守者).
I recently left my role at an investment bank, and fellow graduates working in finance have been supportive — many have told me they also have a strong desire to leave in the near future. No one expects to remain in their job long-term(在他们的岗位上长期待).
There is more to this exodus (['eksədəs] n.大批离去)than simple mismatching(不匹配). The drudgery (苦差事) of entry-level jobs (初级工作,非常形象的表达)within professional servicesis well documented. Hours are spent grinding away(磨掉) in front of Excel and PowerPoint. A combination of routine tasks (日常工作) and high pressure leads to(导致)demoralised juniors (丧失信心的士气低落的青少年).
Millennials are looking for the same things that young people have always wanted in a career: interesting work, financial security(经济保障), good prospects (好的前景)and a job they can take pride in(骄傲的). If employers are serious about retaining talent(留住人才,留住员工=retain employees) for the long-term they should start by getting the right people in the door(即:让合适的人进入这个单位).
And if, as seems to be happening, profits in the industry are dropping to more ordinary levels, the workplace culture (企业文化,职场文化)should change to reflect that. Shorter hours, less weekend work and the feeling that there is a life outside the office would go a long way to alleviating (go a long wayto/towards doing sth.
