　　Traffic congestion and housing shortage are two major problems facing many large cities around the globe, such as Beijing and New York. Some people suggest that to tackle these challenges, large-scale companies and factories should be relocated in the countryside. In my opinion, this method could only partly solve these problems.

　　It is undeniable that relocation of large businesses out of the city centre could positively contribute to alleviating the pressure on traffic and housing supply in urban areas. With headquarters and industrial complex moved to the suburb, their employees are very likely to resettle in communities near where they work, which is probably followed by a considerable decline in the population of cities. As a result, the demand for transport and housing would also see a fall, which, to some extent, could make roads less congested and provide more affordable houses and apartments for urban dwellers. -96

　　Nevertheless, despite the positive impacts brought by relocation of large businesses, traffic and housing problems could not be ideally addressed. The first reason is that apart from business, there are still many other reasons drawing people to large cities, such as superior healthcare service, better education and famous tourist attractions. This means that roads may still be crowded with various vehicles. In addition, even if there were a decline in urban population, developers may remain the imbalance of supply and demand to keep their high profits through various business strategies. -90
