　　With the increasing use of mobile phones and computers, less people tend to write letters. Some people even think the skill of writing letters will disappear completely. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

　　Traditionally, people would send their words or wishes by letters. However, SMS, email and ‘What’s app’ enjoy more popularity nowadays, asa result of the wide use of mobiles and computers. Some people even claim thatletter writing will be replaced completely. I disagree with this opinion.

　　It is undeniable that, in terms of speed, cell phone and email surely, beat the traditional way.For example, to inform your colleagues of the location of a meeting, or to invite several intimate friends to a dinner, sending SMS will only take you less than one minute. Then who would prefer a week-long-arrival letter? This is unlikely to change in the future.

　　Besides, the convenience of modem communication is unparalleled.If people want to send holiday wishes, all they need to do is to download thewishes on the Internet and click the send button. There is no more need to rack brain to put separate words into a sentence. Nor do they need even to bother to grab a pen. For these conveniences and comforts such telecommunication devices have brought us, more and more people, even those in the remote rural areas, are subscribing to these services and are becoming reluctant to hand-write anyletter. Again, this trend away from letter-writing is likely to continue.

　　However, this does not automatically mean that the digital communication will absolutely take all the shoes of letters. After all,there are certain occasions when letters are still the number one choice. The vivid characters written by individuals can always express their emotions more effectively. The wedding invitations always seem more formal and sincere if hand-written;holiday cards with ink will often delight us more; and acarefully written love letter may intrigue or move your beloved onemore easily. So letter writing is still necessary even in this Internet eraand sometimes unique with its physical being as against other virtualforms of communication. Clearly, there is still a place for the hand-written letter and there is no evidence that this place will be taken by technology inthe future.

　　As far as I am concerned, different communication ways suit different situations. None is going to disappear. The skill of writing letters would exist as long as human civilization would.
